Calzaghe who is currently enjoying a well deserved holiday at the moment after defeating Bernard Hopkins, it seems the Welsh Dragon has ruled out retirement and has his eyes set on another big fight night possibly with Roy Jones Jr or Kelly The Ghost Pavlik. The question is which will he choose? Seems Jones has setup the stall and is very interested in fighting Joe, a fight with Pavlik seems less likely and even Tarver is trying to grab some attention however after his show against Hopkins I think this fight is unlikely also.
I think we all agree it would be great to see this deal done, Jones V Calzaghe as it is really the last hurdle for Calzaghe with his unblemished record(45- 0). Jones 52 Wins (38 knockouts, 14 decisions), 4 Losses and a champion in 4 different weight divisions will also be look for the big pay day, It seems he is interested in travelling to Wales for the contest too. Jones notably avoided Steve Collins after he beat the best in the UK in the 90's, Nigel Benn was dismantled by Collins fairly easily twice and Eubank who put up more of a contest but still no match for Collins who won both fights with no questions asked, Collins wanted the fight with Jones however it never materialized but now that Jones has been exposed with 4 losses it seems he has nothing to lose by fighting Joe and everything to gain.
Jones is a great fighter to watch but not flawless, this will be an exciting fight if it happens. I think Jones is confident now after watching Calzaghe V Hopkins but that was a fight which showed little of Calzaghe's skills just sheer determination and ability to outfox the fox, this is the fight I always wanted to see! and it would give me great gratification if Calzaghe can overcome Jones cause I think he has ducked his fair share of top contenders in his time for the easier option or what he thought was an easier option and proved not to be i.e Tarver.
