Darcy Does Thailand

DARCY’S ROAD TRIP!!!

Well people how the hell are you all? I left my native Derry City on August 19th 2007 for the beginning of the trip of a lifetime. The Journey started from Derry City Airport, (worst plane journey ever) to Dublin – Heathrow - Bangkok finally to Koy Samui where we stayed for 1 week.

We arrived at 8pm (Thai time), the hotel we stayed at was a four star, and it was really expensive, 11 pound per night!! If I had a girlfriend we could have split the cost 5.50 each, but that would be the only benefit of bringing a girlfriend on this trip, no offence but it’s an island that it is made for the single man. Apart from it having loads of Asian women wanting to jump your skin it has some of the hottest women from Russia, (I mos go I’m russin - played it out) anyway I renamed it Darcy Island. Now to clean up the previous comments I made, the only girls I meet whilst here were Irish ones and the odd European! Yes I prefer local produce :)

Young Breslin spent a lot of time phoning the love of his life Karen whilst Frank kept getting caught looking at lady boys (we have photographic evidence Frank). Right, Well first night we decided frig it we ain’t here to sleep, so as soon as we arrived at the hotel we left our stuff in the room and went looking for a bar, as you do. We found a ravers paradise in the Samui ‘ The Green Mango” It was an outdoor nightclub surrounded by smaller bars, almost like a village on its on. We decided we would tackle the local vodka and coke to remove all jetlag from our systems and we managed to keep it lit until 2 am.

Day 2: After a 24 hr plane journey from home and a night out we didn’t wake until 5pm the next day, a well-deserved rest I believe. We decided to take a stroll into town, on stepping out from the hotel the first thing that was noticeable was the pong (must be a Thailand word), the sewage system runs through canals flowing like rivers would at home would, the street cabling which dangles from wooden poles make the Boy Goerge look straight. Walking on the footpath was a hazard on its on, I spent more time avoiding lose wires rather than people on the footpath

The buzz of knowing that we have embarked on a trip of a lifetime overshadowed all that Thailand was lacking compared developed civilisations like Derry! The people here were friendly and obliging, the town itself is full of traders and markets which sell anything and everything, even Diesel Jeans were costing 20 pound, unlike a store in the Richmond centre (no-names mentioned) who prefer to times that price by 6. Hats, t-shirts were all good quality and priced beautifully (3 pound), maybe not the genuine article but can you distinguish the difference by looking? Nope. We returned home at 12pm and conked out!! No we tried, this is where the problem with Frank becomes clear ”He snores like an ape masturbating over a microphone”, and well that’s what Pete says! Personally I don’t like watching those types of animal programmes.

Day 3: I shall cut to the chase, we walked the streets again, bought about 5 T-shirts each, walked around the town some more, I took pictures of Frank holding a Monkey, Hawk, and Iguana oh and 1 or 2 lady boys J. That night we sat in the Hotel room with a carryout, Vodka and mix emmmmmm yip we were on a mission, we left quite well on, we got a taxi into town, passing all these moped taxis saying in passing conversation how dangerous and how we would never use them! We got dropped off at the Green Mango, walked through the crowds and meet these Irish girls who we meet whilst in McDonalds the previous day. We stalled around the Green Mango chatting for a bit, then decided to try a different bar, 6 Cork girls and 3 of us walked down the side street until we heard the sound of good old rebel music!! We couldn’t walk past, that night we danced on chairs, (fell of them) sang to every song, it was the best night we had in Thailand, we partied all night and went straight from the bar to the beach at 6am.

We decided it was too warm so we stripped off and went swimming in the ocean, an amazing view starring out into the open water watching the sun rise, an unforgettable experience, we stayed on the beach that day, myself and Frank decided to rent Jet skies, great experience, we just opened them up and went straight for deep waters, we didn’t think too much of the dangers, actually not at all. I was trying to get closer to the sun I think, cause when I looked back the beach looked like it was 10 mile away, anyways we got on land safely.
